COMP 212 - Written Assignments

There will be two hand-written (pencil and paper) assignments each worth 10 percent toward the final grade. The following guidelines for written assignments have been adapted from those provided by Mike Rice for COMP 231 last term.

The first page of each assignment that you submit should have the following information at the top:

your first and last name
COMP 212 - Assign number
date

For pencil and paper assignments, please follow these style rules:

• Put only one problem on each page (or two problems if the answers are very short...)
• Use only one side of each page
• Number the bottom of each page
• Do not submit notebook paper with rough edges
• Use your best handwriting (or type)
• Staple your pages together - do not use paper clips or origami

Policy on cooperation:

Students are encouraged to discuss the problems on the assignments and examine possible solutions with other students. Please take notice of two cardinal rules concerning such cooperation: 1) The final write up of the solutions to the problems should be the work of each individual student. It is unacceptable for two or more students to hand in word for word copies of solutions. 2) Any significant collaboration should be acknowledged (as for instance I acknowledge the help of M. Rice in developing these guidelines).
